They Found Him In The Playground

They found him in the playground
Of the prestigious Anxious International School

Fretting and fighting with other worried children
Who called him a simpleton, a fanatic and a fool!

“You know its folly to follow the straight and the narrow”
“It’s such a hard path you’ll have to beg and borrow”

“There wont be an end to your sorrow”
“How will you safeguard your tomorrow?”

They yelled after him as he refused to receive their cliché’s
About how easy and wide is the broad way!

Even his so-called teachers hollered after him
“GET BACK HERE, DO YOU HEAR, GET BACK HERE

But he kept walking and walking and walking
Until his restless heart was pounding
A little slower and his breathing became a lot calmer

He was now on the hard and the narrow path
He looked around at the aftermath
Of what was left once the veneer of all pretention got torn apart
No more gimmicks, no more hypocrites with their quick-fix

It’s called the hard way because it’s so solid
It neither shakes nor sways

It’s straight and narrow because truth has no extra flab
There’s enough room for you to grab that hand and follow

The Good and Perfect One
He is anything but shallow
Gives love, liberty, & life so you can grow
And go boldly into your eternal tomorrow

But back at the prestigious Anxious International School
They’re still worried about him you know
